Rewire Your Brain for Greatness

Spread the love

The way your brain is currently “wired” could be holding you back from achieving your full potential, your true greatness. Rewiring your brain is the most powerful change you can make to get your life on the right track.

The term “brain rewiring” sounds scary. It brings up images of being hooked up to machines with wires running through your head, or having something implanted in your brain. In fact, rewiring your brain is much easier than you can imagine, and involves nothing more than the regular practice of a few simple practices.

Rewiring your brain involves using certain techniques to change its associations and responses. There are three basic and effective ways to rewire your brain to overcome bad habits, negative thoughts and debilitating emotions.

  1. Mindfulness meditation

Mindfulness meditation and mindful exercises are widely used in the field of cognitive-behavioral therapy to change attitudes and behaviors, as well as to overcome eating disorders and addictions. It’s not an abstract “spiritual” concept but an effective form of therapy that has the ability to rewire the brain.

How does it work?

Mindful meditation works by building intense self-awareness, It empowers you to always remain grounded in the present, allowing you to monitor your emotional triggers.

For example, if certain emotions trigger a craving for fast food or cigarettes, mindfulness enables you to become alert to these emotions. You  can then choose to respond differently, for example by taking a brisk walk or having a healthy snack instead..

When you catch  yourself becoming angry, you can choose to do deep breathing or listen to relaxing music, rather than lashing out and giving rein to your rage.

Over time, your brain’s associations will change. Rather than responding negatively to certain triggers, you will begin to form positive, heather habits.

There are dozens of excellent mindfulness meditations on YouTube, or you can invest in a meditation app. Meditation apps are not expensive and will provide you with hundreds of mediation tracks as well as features and alerts to help you schedule regular meditation times.

  1. Avoid Stress

Stress can be directly related to bad habits. Scientists believe that chronic stress saps the brain of energy. This causes you to react and behave by taking the easiest path, that is, reacting through habit rather than consciously thinking things through.

A 2009 study found that rats under extreme stress tended to rely on automatic decisions (habits) in response to various situations.

Research has also found that stress and anxiety cause the brain to form extremely negative associations such as debilitating fear, lack of self-worth, overthinking and even certain phobias.

This is why it’s essential that you de=stress on a regular basis. This could be through exercise, meditation, creative activities or any relaxing activity that you enjoy.

Schedule time every day for de-stressing and give your brain that much-needed tome out.

  1. Use brain-training techniques

Studies suggest that brain training exercises can actually do some brain rewiring. Brain training strengthens your mind’s ability to ignore irrelevant information and remain focused in the present. This reduces irrational emotional reactions and also changes brain connections and associations.

By practicing these three simple techniques, you will implement the theory of neuroplasticity. Neuroplasticity is the brain’s ability to change its functions and associations, enabling you to create more positive emotions and behaviors. In a nutshell, this is brain rewiring,

These three neuroplasticity techniques will also improve memory, focus and spatial ability.

That’s it, a;; that lies between you and your full potential are these three simple practices that you can start with today!
